Fluke (Summer Flounder)

Summer is all about catching big New Jersey Fluke. On our summer Fluke trips we will be fishing some of the most productive rock piles, wrecks, and reef sites that NJ has to offer! Sailing out of Point Pleasant, NJ we have the option to fish the highly productive Seagirt and Axel Carlson reefs, as well as the Shrewsbury rocks to the North. Big Fluke live in structure and we have a lot of it in our waters. The most productive method to catch these flat fish is with jigs and bucktails tipped with gulp. Fishing a teaser hook tipped with gulp is also very effective. Using cut strips of fish, like bluefish and mackerel, can also improve your catch. Jigs weighing 2-3 ounces can be fished on lighter spinning rods, while heavier jigs and sinker rigs can be fished with conventional rods. Generally, 7ft rods are best. Summer flounder are delicious and can put up a great fight!
